Nestled at 683 Ouellette Ave in Windsor, The Cook's Shop stands out as a true culinary gem in the city’s vibrant dining scene. This Italian restaurant has garnered an enthusiastic following, with patrons praising its rich, satisfying dishes and cozy ambiance. Numerous customers, like Eric Florjancic, rave about meticulously prepared entrées, particularly the filet mignon, which is said to be “cooked to perfection and full of flavour.” The delectable pastas, such as the gnocchi gorgonzola and homemade lasagna, also make stunning impressions, enchanting even the most discerning palates. The atmosphere is complemented by excellent service, where staff go above and beyond to enhance the dining experience. This place is a fabulous dining experience. It’s dark and cozy. Service is excellent. The food is rich and satisfying. The bread is so good. It’s coated in a rosemary salt and served with a whipped garlic butter. Decent wine selection as well.

My husband and I went a couple on months ago to celebrate his retirement and I have to say that I had the best meal in all of my 61 yrs! My husband had the New York (he said he's had better there) and I had the salmon. It came with a "bird's nest" salad on top (not sure what all was in there, but very crunchy) and paired with lemon infused risotto. The textures and flavours were off the charts! My husband commented that he has never seen me enjoy a meal as much as this. I can't wait to go back and you know what I'll be having!

Love the atmosphere and food here! An absolute hidden gem. Always phenomenal food and great options. I had the Lamb the last 2 times I’ve gone and it has been perfect. Also the grilled calamari, beef tartare and tenderloin tips were absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t been before. I’ll continue to go back!

An unexpectedly exquisite experience! Tucked away in what might appear to be a basement apartment (only at night time), this restaurant has ambience, menu and taste of one of finest Italian restaurants I have ever visited! A definite must visit while in the City of Roses, Windsor.

If you love Italian food and you’re in Windsor, The Cook’s Shop is an absolute must-visit. As someone who eats a lot of Italian cuisine and is based in Toronto, I can confidently say I would drive all the way back to Windsor just for the food here. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the most welcoming staff, which sets the tone for an incredible dining experience. One of the standout features is the in-house baked bread served with their own butter. It’s absolutely divine—fresh, soft, and irresistible. I couldn’t stop eating it! The flavors of the bread paired with that creamy, flavorful butter were a perfect start to the meal. The wine list is impressive, offering a wide selection of great pairings for every dish, and I particularly enjoyed the lamb. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes, which I typically don’t enjoy, were some of the best I’ve ever had—smooth, rich, and so flavorful. If you’re a fan of potatoes, you won’t be disappointed! The pasta was another highlight. I had the Stroganoff pasta with a hint of mascarpone cheese, and it was incredible. The truffle mushroom flavor really stood out, and the mascarpone brought all the flavors together in the most perfect way. By the end of the meal, I was stuffed, but I would have gladly kept going. The ambiance is cozy and charming, with candles adding a touch of warmth that makes you feel right at home. The entire experience felt like a meal made with love and care, and it’s a place I’ll definitely be coming back to.

Love the rustic design, very intimate and the waiters give excellent service. The owner was there and made sure to chat with the customers which I thought was touching. The bread id baked fresh with delicious garlic butter cream. The pasta is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. This is my second time here and it’s always a great experience
